I really want a machamp with good iv's and the moves bullet punch and cross chop

Unknown said...

I think its much better karate chop + cross chop.

Cause karate chop let you arrive faster to cross chop, and cross chop 25% crit chance benefix more with less seconds

Anonymous said...

It's better the karate chop due of the stab

i got a 1831 machamp. level 27 with 53% iv. but he got karate+cross chop which is the best attack combo for him. i dont know if i should spend stardust on him to max him out. seems like a legitimate option against a few over used normal pokemon in the gyms (i.e pidgeot, snorlax)

I actually prefer Stone Edge as it's better against Dragonite, Gyarados, Arcanine, Exeggcutor and the legendaries whenever they come out. Cross Chop is better against Snorlax

Anonymous said...

This guy's standard attacks are really weak, they should buff karate chop

Sucks I evolved a Machoke with Cross Chop to get a Machamp with Submission. Most DPS charge move to the least. Yeah the CP went from ~900 to 1527 but such a huge DPS loss. Not sure how the CP change influences the DPS though so my disappointment might be unjustified.

just got one via evolution, cp1479 with karate chop/stone edge, a great moveset considering the machop line are a rare find over here.
only have obtained 23 machop and 3 machoke so far, they're arguably as rare as the kanto starters.

fighting/rock is only walled by nidoqueen and nidoking, however they're of little worry with the popularity of vaporeon and water types in general discouraging their use for gym defense.

stone edge has the highest crit rate in the game at 50%. no one seems to know the damage bonus of a crit yet, but it'll inflict big dents in lapras, gyarados and dragonite regardless.

karate chop needs a buff, under 10 DPS even with stab is pitiful. even a buff to an energy per use rate higher than that of low kick's would be appreciated. the fact that low kick gets ousted for bullet punch in its movepool is another blow to machamp's viability.
the fighting type in general needs more work in GO.

I have a 100% IV Machamp with Karate & Cross chop, 2146 CP at the moment - I'm lev 28, can max it higher but ran out of candy.

I also have a %100 IV Machamp, that has Karate Chop and Stone Edge. With a Rhydon and Golem who already have Stone Edge, it doesn't seem like he will be of much use. Still am glad I got what I got though.

an extension of my october 21 comment.
it turns out that critical hits are currently an inactive mechanic in GO. machamp's still worth hanging on to in case they reactivate it, it'll benefit greatly.

buffing karate chop is one other thing on my wishlist after moveset management. it struggles to leave a mark even on stuff weak to it, like snorlax. i imagine it best as becoming a fighting type version of psycho cut, but that's probably asking for too much.

bullet punch, however...niantic so far has done a poor job of translating priority moves to GO, both bullet punch and quick attack.
fury cutter and bug bite are excellent models to what priority moves should've been translated to in GO - high energy gain over damage.

Counter and dynamic Punch or counter and close combat... which one is better ???

Anonymous said...

Counter with dynamic punch has 10% higher synergistic DPS as compared with counter with close combat.

Anonymous said...

I have karate chop + Cross Chop (legacy moveset). Is new moveset better ?

Anonymous said...

Yes the new ones are better... the legacy that is good is the karate chop and stone edge... but counter with dynamic Punch or close combat are way better ...

Anonymous said...

Seeing as Bullet Punch / Heavy Slam is a possible moveset, this makes me worried for my perfect IV Machoke... I have no spawns around me so I'm only 1/4 the way towards evolving it... :X

i got my wish for a buff to karate chop, except a vastly superior fast fighting type move in counter came around and gave it a good knockout blow.

even then submission still remains trash, so my kchop/sub machamp is still with little merit. my kchop/s-edge one is only a little better than that.

i'm merely one machop catch away from another machamp. unfortunately machop seemed to have fell to roughly dratini's level of rarity over here after gen II. that and machamp basically being instantly ruined if it gets even 1 of the steel moves...

Anonymous said...

cp1714 male 91.1% counter/close combat.
i finally get a mono-fighting machamp with some merit, but the number crunchers from deep in the playerbase agree that dynapunch runs circles around close combat in damage output...

it's the variation of the thunder-bolt syndrome.
dynapunch is doing 225 in ~5.4 secs at the same energy cost clocomb is doing 125 in 2.3.
that's a 100 damage difference. clocomb's energy cost is just too steep for its damage, and that's why stuff like thunder, moonblast, and flash cannon among other cases are falling out of favor for their "lesser" counterparts when available.

but i can't be mad at it now. counter/clocomb machamp is tied with counter/clocomb heracross at #2 for best blissey buster, meaning it'll beat the pants out of anything else i've been using as blissey busters once i get it to lv.30.

hoping close combat gets a lovely damage buff for when it starts reducing the user's defense...

Cross Chop is a two-charge bar move (correct on the actual move's page).

Anonymous said...

I got a Bullet punch + Dynaminc punch machamp, should I power him up? or just look candies for another one? hoping Counter + Dynamic punch. HELPPPP

Anonymous said...

So did I, how much less effective is this than a counter and close combat variant?

Anonymous said...

I have a IV 100 Machamp at 2538CP 144hp with Karate Chop and Stone Edge and a recently evolved IV 95.6 one with Bullet Punch and Heavy Slam :\

Anonymous said...

I have a Machamp with Counter+Dynamic Punch and one with Bullet Punch+Dynamic Punch, both of them having the best appraisals from my team leader (Simply Amazes, Blown away by the stats, etc) and I can tell you that makes quite a difference in defeating Blissey or any other normal type Pokemon, but with Blissey I've noticed the biggest difference because with the full Fighting type Machamp I can defeat a Blissey and a quarter of the second Blissey, while with the partly steel Machamp I almost defeat one Blissey. I must admit though that the Bullet Punch Machamp is rather strong against Rhydon, since Rock type is weak against Steel type moves.

Anonymous said...

Ive had 88.9 to 97% ones, every single one got bullet punch, like 7 of them.. Until i evolved my 100% chop. COUNTER closecombat on my perfect iv machamp. Now i just need 100 more candy to max him out.. :')

Using the new TM move changers from the update, I got a machamp with Counter/Cross Chop. Should I keep that or also randomly change the charge move?

Anonymous said...

Change the charge move too dynamic punch its the best move but close combat is also very good either way a lot better then cross chop ...

Unknown said...

I love TM's, now my 100% Machamp has Counter and Dynamic Punch, auf wiedersehen Bullet Punch and Heavy Slam :).

Anonymous said...

Close combat is better then dynamic punch if u look above it does more dps

Anonymous said...

Dynamic punch only requires 50 energy it's better, DPS values are just damage divide cool down doesn't show true DPS

Anonymous said...

Have a machamp with counter / CC and one with counter / DP ... both over 90% IV and similar CP. anecdotally -- I can say my machamp with DP is definitely doing more damage, takes out the blisseys & tyrannitars (if you haven't yet, battle your machamp against tyrannitars - DESTROYS THEM, it's as violent as gyrados meeting electricity lol) that bit quicker. Can't complain with either though

I keep getting heavy slam on machamp :(

I have a %100 Machamp with legacy moves Karate Chop and Stone Edge and thinking about using a Charged TM to try for Dyna Punch or Close Combat. I noticed Stone Edge does more DPS than 2/3 of his new moves.. is it worth trying to get him a charged fighting move? - DCBA25

Anonymous said...

Close Combat is better here is why:

Close Combat does 54.4 dps full bar with cooldown 2.3 sec.
Dynamic Punch does 41.7 dps half bar with cooldown 2.7.
When using Dynamic Punch twice 83.4 dps with cooldown 5.4 sec.

54.4 dps vs. 83.4 dps = 29 dps
2.3 sec vs. 5.4 sec = 3.1 sec

During that 3.1 sec you have the chance to use your fast move Counter, 16.7 dps cooldown 0.9 sec and if you use Counter three times (twice even works) after you have used Close Combat you would have done:
54.4 + 16.7 + 16.7 + 16.7 = 104.5 dps.
Cooldown 2.3 + 0.9 + 0.9 + 0.9 = 5 sec.

So its 1 Close Combat + 3 Counter with 104.5 dps cooldown 5 sec vs. 2 Dynamic Punch with 83.4 dps cooldown 5.4.

Close combat is also better because it's easier to dodge your opponents charge moves. Because it's lower cooldown period plus Dynamic Punch needs 2 cooldown periods.

The only point i give to Dynamic Punch is that if your Machamp has low HP it might not be able to use a fully charged energy bar but you might be able to use a half charged energy bar like Dynamic Punch.

Dynamic Punch is not bad, Close Combat is just better.

No you're wrong overall Dynamic Punch does more damage but Close Combat is close behind both are fine but Dynamic Punch is better.
