where?

Just caught one too....yay but... I really want a dragonite now

What advantage does Gengar have compared to Haunter despite inferior basic attacks compared to Lick?

More HP, and therefore it's able to last longer to deal more damage despite having weaker abilities.

Is gengar location locked or just rare?

Why would they give him sucker punch? It's crappier in every way and not a STAB. Is it just to screw over people that grinded 125 candies? Geez.

I gots me a Gengar from a gastly nest with tha ideal moves. It's a shame Gengar is a pretty squishy, weak pokemon for battling or defending. They should improve his base stats. Same goes for Alakazam.

I have a gengar

My Gengar has Sludge Bomb - 55 power - poison type

It's so frustrating that Niantic killed Gengars highest move in favour or Sludge bomb. 70 to 55, thank for ruining one of the best Pokemon (IMO) you

I have two:

1) 82% IV's

Shadow claw + Shadow Ball

2) 91%

Shadow claw + Dark Pulse (typical)

I have enough for a 3rd, but was waiting for better IV's and then they go and pull the move I was desperately seeking.

Ridiculous. They could have at least improved it's CP and Stamina stat, now even with a # 12 attack, it's moves are average at best.

My Gengar still has shadow claw and sludge wave, even after the update. Maybe he was grandfathered in?

Also, Gengar is not that good. He has some decent attacks, but he is a glass cannon (and the cannon part is debatable)

My gengar has sludge wave as a move

My Gengar have Sluge Wave why isn't the move listed on the database?

So is Hangar both strong AND weak against physic types then??

Anonymous said...

Gengar can have Sludge Wave, please update your page

^Only if you evolved him before the patch.

tacked on dark type moves to tell the players that they blew 125 candies on a dud. dark is redundant alongside ghost as an offensive type. thank goodness for the halloween event, the spooks over here are arguably as abundant as pidgey and its viridian forest friends...
with the increase in candies, it's 21 captures of the gastly family minimum to evolve a gengar from gastly, or 14 if you transfer each capture.

why do people want sludge wave back when sludge bomb is 0.7 ahead of it DPS-wise?
and you can use sludge bomb twice from 2 full bar segments.
55 x 1.25 (stab) = 68.75 x 2 = 137.5.

regardless, gengar in GO is pretty much reliving the issues it had in gen I. it can try to bust psychics and the rare other gengar, but the psychics and that other gengar can bust it back...

Mine is old, he has Sludge Wave for 70

I'm VERY lucky. Somehow I got 2 amazing Gengars, both with Shadow Claw, and then one has Sludge Bomb whereas the other has Shadow Ball for a charge move.

From what I've seen, those are the best defensive and offensive Gengars, respectively, and now I find Shadow Claw has been taken out?
GAME ON!

Oh My Goshnessssss!

So I'm IV checking almost all my 'mons, right? Low CP / 1300 stardust Gengar here turns out to be a 91.1% perfect with full legacy moveset of Shadow Claw / Dark Pulse.

If trading is ever added, boy howdy that'll fetch a pretty poke! :D

Sludge Wave should get a boost from STAB. Gengar is poison type lol

If you do have a dark type fast move on your Gengar, don't panic! You if it has Focus blast as its charge move, then you've got a danger Normal type killer on your hands. Even low CP Gengars can threaten a Chansey because of this Pokemon's very high attack and Focus blast!

I might make this my Chansey killer, if I can get the stardust. I currently just use a Maxed Vaporeon.
