wtf means TDB on location?

Anonymous said...

TBD means 'to be determined' retard

TBD mean The Brooklyn Dump

I found a straight dragonite in a small tunnel. It was quasi-near a few lakes so that could have helped the spawn

Anonymous said...

So I am curious, if electric moves do poorly against dragon and well against flying... is there a type priority on the defending dragonite or does the attacking electric attacks deal normal damage?

Anonymous said...

Yes, the attack would deal normal

Elvis Mow said...

What mean DPS?

Anonymous said...

It seems that Dragonite is really not all that great. His two spam moves are actually low dps!

Anonymous said...

Dragonite is just a decent gym tank thats about it

Anonymous said...

What is the best move set for him?

Anonymous said...

It's moves don't look that good but you have to remember it has the second highest CP cap (~3500), second highest attack stat and fourth highest defense stat. Don't know how those stats work though.

Anonymous said...

I would think it's dragon breath and dragon claw because of the high damage per second when compared to the other moves.

Anonymous said...

Does the Dragonair's moves determine the Dragonite's moves when it evolves?

Anonymous said...

Hold up how come on silph road it says dragon claw has 30 dps and here it says it has 25 dps? Which one is correct?

Should I Power Up my Dragonite.. My attacks are Steel Wing and Hyper Beam.... So Yes or NO?

Unknown said...

The best variation would be (Still wing) with (Dragon claw) for Dragonite.

Unknown said...

what? steel wing is bad for charging. You need Dragon Breath to charge up claw, pulse or hyper beam. without Dragon breath, Dragonite is pretty bad, unfortunately.

Anonymous said...

but steel wing is good for fighting against ice, rock, and fairy type pokemon, which are the weaknesses of dragonite. I would say steel wing is not that bad to be honest.

29/07/2016 -
hyper beam was buffed (120 power now)
dragon pulse was buffed (65 power now)
dragon claw was nerfed (35 power now)

all spots of dratini now is spot of eevee (? need to confirm)

And now dragon claw is the worst, great ...

Anonymous said...

i think i got a good dragonite, i catch him with 1267CP, Steel Wing 15 and Hyper Beam 120. i guess im lucky to have this kind of moveset since the power is max, and i will continue to power up it. BETTER?

Anonymous said...

is this a good dragonite moveset? I have a 2000cp dragonite with the moves steel wing and dragon pulse. Ive been using him in gyms and he seems to be really good

Unknown said...

my dragonite has steel wing too..is a bit slow wish we can change the moveset

Unknown said...

can we please change the animation for steel wing and make it more epic looking gosh

Anonymous said...

Just found one at the Salty Dog Hilton Head Island, SC

Anonymous said...

Found 2 last night on Santa Monica Pear

Anonymous said...

Idk how true this, but I've heard rumors that you have a SLIGHTLY higher chance of spawning a Dragonite (1) near any historically important landmarks and (2) on or around golf courses...

Anonymous said...

I have a dragonite with steel wing and hyper beam, it seems to be really good and usefull to defend a gym. it's also a bit good with attacking gyms!

Gao Zong Xiong said...

Mine is steel wing n dragon pulse. Wish it got hyperbeam that would be better but I guess its not that bad.

Unknown said...

I got 1 from a dragonair with dragon breath and dragon pulse

Anonymous said...

As it says above... dragon claw is still the better skill with more dps.

Unknown said...

Steel Wing is horrible. And anyone defending a gym with a Dragonite a month or 2 from now will be inferior to the 2.8k CP Solar Beam Exeggutors and Blizzard Lapras. Sure, Steel Wing is good for defending now because the meta is young and you don't have a 2k Lapras..but give it time.."nite is not a defender, Dragonite is a gym sweeper utilizing Dragon breath. Any of the 3 charge moves are fantastic. Please stop posting nonsense. Steel Wing is utter garbage and you just got trolled by Niantic if that is what you rolled. This is not opinion, it's fact. Sorry if you got Steel Wing, but don't post nonsense.

Anonymous said...

I got one dratini with 100% IV

Anonymous said...

I just evolve a 288CP and 43HP Dragonaire (thats 100% IV) to a 100% IV Dragonite. I powered him up couple of times and check if its still had that pure IV's and yes it still remain 100%. The CP now is 683 HP 68 Move set are dragonbreath: 6 and Hyperbeam: 150. Do you think the move sets are worth powering? I am looking forward to evolve my 995 dragonaire also.

Anonymous said...

What does 'IV' mean in Pokemon Go and how do u check?

Anonymous said...

IV refers to individual values... The higher the IV of your pokemon, the higher the stats (CP, HP) when it powers up. This means a 0% IV dragonite will not gain as much CP and HP as compared to a 100% IV dragonite.

Anonymous said...

Almost everybody in here is a retard and i ll tell you why. People say that steel wing is shit and it probably is if you plan on hitting every gym with it. If however you have a strong pokemon with good IV and attacks kit of each type, ex: A 2k+ CP arcanine, a 2k+ CP Vaporeon, a high CP Raichu, a good Venusaur/Victreebel etc one good of each type then you don't mind having a Dragonite with steel wing which is good for countering fairy and some other types. If you are looking for an all around strong pokemon you are doomed anyway. Dragon breath is good against most common types you see in a gym but it does have weaknesses like everything else. You just need a strong of every type. Plus even with steel wing a dragonite will be formidable because it has the highest CP. Whenever i use it against counter types pokemon i get the "Not very effective" message but ironically their HP drops fast because i overpower them for at least 500CP. CP makes up for the lower DPS and the pokemon is still good against certain types.

Anonymous said...

if you are looking only at maximum of course it can drop, but if you go poke assist there's a define button there, you need to power up at least 1-2 times sometimes 3 times to tell what's the real IV, as there's minimum IV too, unless on the web shows you there is only 1 combination then you can go ahead.

I have two dragonites, caught a 2000cp one with steel wing n drag claw and evolved a 2100 cp one with dragon breath n dragon claw. I wish it had dragon pulse instead

Anonymous said...

I have a 2100ish dragonite with dragon breath and solar beam, it had like a 90%ish iv

Anonymous said...

If you want a dragnite go to prince's island in Calgary Alberta Canada, that's where I caught mine

Anonymous said...

In my opinion, dragonite is the best.

Anonymous said...

My 2300cp lapras is too powerful so I let my 1800cp slowbrows ice bean them instead.

Unknown said...

Most move sets are good unless you get steel wing and hyper beam. Steel wing is good against Dragonites worst enemies

Unknown said...

Almost caught a Dragonite last night. Ran out of poke balls. Super bummer. Then ran into a guy that had all kinds of pokemon he cheated to get. They were over 2000 cp. Oh well bad moment in a a very fun game. Hunt on! :-)

Anonymous said...

Max CP is 3525 with a 100% iv @ Clvl 40.

MyNameJeff said...

Is dragon breath and Dragon pulse the 2 best move

Anonymous said...

proud owner of a 97.8% dragonite w/ dbreath/dpulse here, raised from a humble low cp dratini locally caught in the wild nearly 3 months ago. currently in my buddy slot for candies. the weather has turned wet over here, so progress has been slow.

dragon claw : 35 x 1.25 (stab) = 43.75 x 2 = 87.5
dragon pulse : 65 x 1.25 (stab) = 81.25 x 2 = 162.5

obviously dclaw is the faster option, but 2 dpulses outdamage both that and hyper beam.
though hyper beam has its merit for type coverage. all non mono-dragon combinations on dnite hit everything but magneton neutral, but honestly, when has anyone placed their magneton on gym duty, with it's sub-cp2000 ceiling?

FINALLY evolved one of my own with 2477 CP and exceptional stats. Mine has Steel Wing and Dragon Claw moveset. I initially thought that this was a bad thing until I remembered that Steel Wing was effective against Ice, Rock and Fairy types, which have an advantage over Dragon types. Plus, from what I was reading, essentially any moveset with Dragon Breath is a good offensive moveset and any moveset with Steel Wing is a good defensive moveset. Also, my Dragonite's best attribute is its defense, which means that it's supposed to take less damage per second. So overall I'm content, it was difficult enough to evolve as it was. But from what I gather, there's really no such thing as a "bad" Dragonite moveset, please correct me if I'm wrong though.

Anonymous said...

I have a 95.6% dragonite perfection with hyper beam and dragon breath.

@Steve You should know in pokemon go effective attack only have a x1.25 if its a x2 effectiveness and ×1.5 if its x4 so eventhough steel wing has an effectivennes of x1.25 against fairy or ice pokemon, dragon breath still win for quite a little. Also dragon breath has better cooldown

Unknown said...

I have a 100% dragonite with steel wing and hyperbeam. With those move sets, is it worth powering up????

Jay Mannington said...

@jayson prat: It depends; in my opinion, I want a dragonite with dragon breath to attack gyms while using a different one with steel wing to defend gyms.

As you'll notice above, Dragon breath gives 7 energy (the units used for powering up for a charge attack) where as steel wing gives four. Furthermore, in the amount of time it takes to use 2 steel wings, 5 dragon breaths can be used in 0.16 less seconds (2.5 seconds vs. 2.66 seconds).

During that time, Dragonite will deal (assuming the defending pokemon neither resists or is super effective against either steel or dragon) 30 damage / 8 energy from steel wing, and deal 30 damage / 35 energy from dragon breath. However, since Dragon breath is a dragon type move and dragonite benefits from STAB (same type attack bonus), dragonite deals 30 * 1.25 damage = 37.5 damage.

This is before taking typing multiplier into effect. Dragon breath only hits super effective against dragon types (dragonite from Gen1 and soon to be Kingdra from Gen2) where as steel wing hits hard against rock, ice, and fairy types.

As can be summarized, between the relatively negatable type effectiveness multipliers (1.25x super effective, 0.8x not very effective), and the relatively small pool of pokemon that steel wing hit in gen1 and gen2, Dragon breath is the better option for attacking, as it racks in energy and powers up the charge attack greater than 4x compared to steel wing.

Due to the long periods of time between attacks as gym defenders, steel wing makes for a better gym defender.

I personally have one with 97.8% IVs with steel wing + hyper beam, yet I will wait for another, because I want dragon breath (I personally don't care what the charge move is). I hope this answers your question!

Anonymous said...

@Jayson Prat, dude I had a very good idea of all the DPS and STAb but I really don't think that you could have made that any more clear. The few little tweaks and minor details I wasn't 100% sure of, you just cleared up. It's wasn't long and drawn out and at the same time very detailed. Thanks

Unknown said...

I just evolved another Dragonite with Dragon Breath and Dragon Pulse. Overall I'm happy because I wanted one for attacking gyms.

Anonymous said...

I just evolved and got a Dragonite with Steel Wing 12 and Hurricane 110. Hope its okay because its a 95% IV.

Unknown said...

i have dragontail and outrage. something is missing here. Obtained yesterday

Anonymous said...

Steel wing is the better fast move for attacking because you can consistently get off two steel wings between each defender attack for 22 damage and 12 energy gain while you can only consistently use dragon tail once and still dodge for only 17.1 damage and 9 energy gain. DPS doesn't tell the whole story. Your dragonite will have more health and be able to go through more defenders with steel wing.

Unknown said...

Dragon Claw and Dragon Pulse no longer get STAB?

Anonymous said...

steel wing is faster than before, and at least has a purpose if accompanied with outrage. it is faster than dragon tail, but cursed with a terrible offensive typing, and the fact that its a typical tack-on move meant for reverse-countering pkmn most likely to have moves that dnite is weak against.

not very effective steel wing:
11 dmg * 0.8 not very effective = 8.8 dmg / 0.8 secs = 11 DPS
when resisted, it's just slightly better than non-stab zen headbutt.

super-effective steel wing:
11 dmg * 1.25x super-effective = 13.75 dmg / 0.8 secs = 17.18 DPS
when daring enough to go up against a rock/ice/fairy type, it's slightly better than neutral stab dragon tail!

at 7.50 EPS you better have outrage. you'll need 7 secs worth of using it minimum to get a shot of outrage ready. (for hurricane and hyper beam, 14 secs worth minimum)

hyper beam isn't bad either, it's still inflicting more damage than even stab hurricane for the same energy cost. hurricane is just faster.
just pray that steel wing/hyper beam never come together...

Unknown said...

Just all-in my candies to get a dragonite with STEELWING AND HYPERBEAM!!!!!
Someone call an ambulance for me Im having a heart attackkkkkkk........

Caught a 93% stat/IV (14/15/13) Dratini with 676 CP that evolved into a Dragonite with 2840 CP and Dragon Tail and Hurricane as the moveset. I'm not complaining in any event, it's funny though how this site lists this as the ideal moveset while others list Dragon Tail and Outrage as the ideal moveset.

Anonymous said...

Level 33 still walking Dratini to get Dragonite because I cant stop hatching Gligars ;_;

Unknown said...

@ Anonymous I think you're right about Steel Wing and Outrage. I just evolved a 98% Dratini (15/15/14) with 660 CP into a Dragonite with that moveset. I guess I was still conditioned to think that Steel Wing is still the same slower fast move as it was with Generation 1 and it ultimately killed the moveset but not so much anymore. More than anything though I wanted Outrage seeing as I didn't have a Dragonite with that charge move yet and ultimately I got my wish. But ultimately I've learned a lot since I started playing the game and I'm starting to think that moveset ranking sources are overrated.

Unknown said...

At long last I am the proud owner of a perfect IV Dragonite with Dragon Tail and Outrage, thank God for TM's!!!!
